Some
people are
interested in knowing a little more about the DJ so.........
......DJ
Jazzy K grew up on the Harringey ladder North London,
running up
and down the alleys with children from a variety of different origins.
Italian, Indian, Greek, Turkish are just a few of the races, and as
such
I developed a good understanding and respect for all of the
different
cultures in our community.
My house was full of music especially at the weekends. I believe our
house
was used as one of the original blues house's in the 1960-70'. People
would
pay to come and eat/drink/dance from Saturday night to early hours
Sunday
morning. The reggae beats of Ska still have a special place in my
heart. Tunes like "My boy Lollipop" and more.
In my teens I lived in Tottenham where I think some of my quick fire
wit
comes from. Humour is a great device for getting out of tight
situations
and like many teenagers I had my fair share. I always managed to
talk /laugh/joke my way out of most of them which comes in handy. I
trained
hard at martial arts but always found an excuse not to use it in anger.
Punk and Rock and reggae, more Ska, New romantics, Soul and disco
entered
my life, and I suppose at some stage I was a big fan of all of them.
In my late teens early 20's, I would often run home from a party that
was
full of friends bored with the attempts of someone or other to play
music,
and return with my dads hi-fi and some records hoping I could get
it back before he noticed. It wasn't until my late 20's, I won a
competition
on capital radio and got a great prize of the top 10 CD compilation
albums.
I realised I had the potential to do what I had already been doing for
fun as a small business and people were prepared to pay me to play.
My experience over the years has enabled me to delight many of my
customers
who have returned for further bookings and recommended me to friends.
They
know I am serious about making their party a success.
So what's next.... I've had a taste of the big time playing at a
couple of big night clubs to over a thousand people. This was when UK
Garage
1st arrived on the scene (I love the vocal garage tracks), but I much
prefer
100-300 people events where you can get a real feel for what people
want.
House party's, Wine Bars and function rooms..... come on lets PARTY.
