About
us
In
2006 I agreed to help my sons teenage friends enhance their skills at
the game of basketball. They were keen and I needed a reason to keep my
fitness and coaching skills at a decent level, as a Level 2 coach.
This has grown by word of mouth and become
Hemel Sharks Basketball Club. We are now registered as a club with
England Basketball, and are seeking support and funding from the local
government to support our development.
Here are
the club rules
Rule 1)
Health and safety 1st (safe environment to learn, train and develop)
Rule 2) The coaches decision
is final
Rule 3) see
Rule 1&2
Our sessions
We train with mixed abilities and ages from
11 - whatever, and the sessions are structured around a group warm up
followed by addressing the neeeds of the attendees on any day. For many
this is the only full on exercise they get in a week, and most find
this more
challenging than going to a gym. There is a drive and motivation to
play well and
win. The
senior or more skilled players can break off into game play
and tactical situations, whilst the juniors focus on the basics.
We always try to end with a full court game where the
junior players are encouraged to participate. The senior players
need to display extra skill and control to encourage the Juniors to
develop their gameplay. Why not come along and try, fees are just
£1.50 for a 2hour session 7pm -9pm Sundays, plus entry to
Hemel Hempstead sports centre. Contact Ken for
details.
